never to young to learn how to kill

Interesting take on the warrior child vs. the child-like warrior.

Had really liked Walker's essay on this young American soldier. The boy's had a longer relationship with Fisher than his new bride!

time and space

John Clang's exploration of shifting time in urban landscapes seems a lot less political - but then again may be I politicised Sam's work in my own head because the subject matter is a lot closer to my heart.

Which reminds me of of Sam Kang Li's work on Multipl-city:

But I would argue that the fragmented figures in Clang's work doesn't help evoke any intimacy - the jarring cut outs is anything but subtle perhaps. To that end, Sam's work technical execution is perhaps more successful in accomplishing that, although it does lack the layered depth of Clang's.
